- Order Management
Order Management in POMSnet Aquila MES provides complete control over work orders for GMP production environments. Teams can create, release, hold, resume, close, or delete orders and batches, with full visibility into each stage. Aquila integrates easily with ERP systems or functions as a standalone solution. Through its hierarchical structure of orders, batches, and splits, Aquila ensures accurate execution and provides direct access to the full electronic batch record (EBR) for review.
- Equipment Management
Equipment Management centralizes the oversight of equipment and rooms across the facility. Users can define classes, types, and specifications, and manage equipment configuration through an intuitive wizard. This module integrates with Recipe Execution, Materials Management, Weigh & Dispense, and other Aquila applications, enabling barcoding, location tracking, status checks, and allocation throughout the production process.

Material Management controls raw materials, intermediates, components, and finished goods throughout production and warehousing. Aquila tracks material movement in real time and supports both lot-level and container-level workflows, ensuring full traceability and material integrity. The system also manages waste reporting, inventory adjustments, and reconciliation activities to maintain consistent compliance and accuracy.

Specification Management provides a graphical, easy-to-use interface for recipe authoring. With more than 100 S88 phases available out of the box, users can quickly build scalable recipes aligned with life sciences best practices. The module controls all specification objects with version management and effectivity dates, serving as the foundation for process governance and recipe lifecycle management.
- Weigh and Dispense
The Weigh & Dispense module supports central and line dispensing operations with industry-standard best practices built in. Aquila offers more than 15 standard dispensing methods, covering weighing by batch, campaigning weigh, and various optimized approaches. These capabilities ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all material dispensing activities.

Quality Management automates critical compliance requirements, including 21 CFR Part 11 electronic signatures and records. The module enforces FIFO or FEFO policies, manages expiry and retesting workflows, and provides lot disposition controls. By embedding GMP principles into every workflow, Aquila strengthens quality oversight across local or global operations.

Personnel Management ensures operator readiness by validating training, SOP compliance, and permission levels before production begins. Worksheets support truly paperless operations. Worksheets maintain consistency and traceability without generating a final product, making them essential tools for controlled operational workflows.
MES Business and Process Integration & Standards Across the Enterprise
Aquila MES provides standard tools to integrate the pharma MES software with ERP, LIMS, CAPA, training, document management, and asset management systems. Templates for common platforms enable rapid implementation using proven industry standards. Aquila also offers direct device and process control system connectors to integrate equipment across the facility. Local workstations communicate with scales, barcode readers, and other devices, while OPC clients provide connectivity to process control systems. Using S88-based functional interfaces, POMSnet Aquila can launch and supervise batch logic executed in control systems and capture all associated events for inclusion in the electronic batch record. This unified approach ensures consistent data flow, reliable execution, and complete traceability across the production environment.
