International Pharmaceutical R&D organization implements POMS CMS for Clinical Supplies Manufacturing

International Pharmaceutical R&D Organization successfully implements POMS CMS at end of 2000. Implementation took 14 months from contract signing. The base implementation was done in the United States with plans to roll out the same system to European sites in France and Switzerland. The initial implementation included Materials Management, Weigh Dispense and Clinical Packaging. The company uses Materials Management for material receiving, storage, tracking, and QC status control. Weigh Dispense is used for precise record keeping for materials dispensed to production batch orders and associated batch records. POMS recipe manager offers clinical packaging material genealogy and control of lots consumed as patient packs are created. POMS standard functionality formed the basis of the system, but the users took advantage of the built-in programming capability to develop their own functionality to meet some specialized needs.
