MES for Regulated CPG Industries
POMS MES Interactive Operating Instructions
POMS MES Interactive Operating Instructions is a function-
and feature-rich portion of the application.
The POMS MES Interactive Operating Instructions functionality
is where manufacturing execution commands are presented
to the operator in the form of a manufacturing recipe
(actionlist), then capturing data and events as the
recipe is traversed. At the conclusion of the recipe,
an electronic batch record of the Interactive Operating
Instructions is created indicating all data entered,
or changed, as part of the recipe, and any ‘out
of spec’ or exceptions encountered during the
Interactive Operating Instructions.
POMS MES Interactive
Operating Instructions functionality includes:
• Recipe creation and approval
• Interactive operating Instructions in the form
of an actionlist
• Order entry
• Work assignment of the recipe
• Asset assignment and execution within the recipe
• Scale and balance management
• Optional SCADA Interface
• Device (such as pH meter) management
• Electronic batch record
• Electronic Signatures
• Exception handling and documentation of an exception
and it’s resolution
• Lot validation for proper expire, status and
assay values during the recipe
• Shipping of the final product
POMS MES allows for a recipe author to create an actionlist
of recipe instructions to guide the manufacturing operator
through complex operations and data intensive processes.
During the execution of the action list, compliance
data is captured, manufacturing data is captured, and
lot integrity is validated, all while an electronic
batch record of compliance is generated.
POMS MES has libraries of action list ‘steps’
(the toolbox) which are capable of being used by the
author to create an action list which functionally mimics
the current manufacturing practices of a plant.
In addition, if the client needs to have a ‘special’
step, the Honeywell-POMS services personnel will assist
in creating a step for the ‘toolbox’.
The existing steps are best manufacturing practices
designed to meet the manufacturing needs of the recipe.
Benefits
The benefits of implementing
POMS MES Interactive Operating Instructions are:
• Electronic actionlist of the recipe steps guiding
the operator through complex operations in a managed
and controlled fashion (more operational discipline)
• Manage exceptions and ‘out of tolerance’
conditions when they occur
• Record compliance data during the recipe
• Create and approve recipe separate from Interactive
Operating Instructions
• Ability to create an electronic batch record
of the recipe operations after the Interactive Operating
Instructions is completed.
• Create a lot genealogy of the materials consumed
in the recipe and genealogy of the product created by
the recipe
• Capability (if implemented) for interfaces to
ERP and PLC/SCADA
• Asset and material management within the recipe
• Labeling
• Reusable recipes and actionlists
• POMS execution level bills of material and equipment
