POMS
eSpec™
Complete
Specification
POMS eSpec allows you to flexibly model and develop
all specifications. Standard specification attributes
are freely defined and structured. Classes can be defined
to group common attributes of specification objects.
These are inherited as objects that are assigned to
one or more of these classes.

The values can be calculated based on the characteristics
of the specification object and its components. For
example, to calculate material quantities as function
of component characteristics, or summarize cost and
planning information. The specification models and objects
are configurable, but the following defaults are pre-defined:
Material Model
• Raw materials, intermediates and products
• Bill of material
• Bill of products
Asset Model
• Equipment, tools, human resources, etc.
• Bill of assets
Process
Model
Graphically defines the characteristics and sequence
of all business processes and procedures required to
deliver a product. The types of procedures are configurable,
but the following defaults are predefined based on the
S88 standard:
• Recipe
• Unit procedure
• Operation
• Phase
In addition, the following
procedure types have been defined:
• Product recipe (models all intermediate process
steps required for a finished product)
• Test method
• Test plan (sequence of test-methods to be executed)
Full Product Life-Cycle
All specifications can be defined at different stages
of the product development life cycle. They can be formally
transferred between stages, typically increasing the
level of detail, but enforcing the constraints defined
earlier to ensure consistency. The development stages
are configurable, but the following defaults are predefined,
based on published standards and recommendations:
• Prototype (product development sandbox, based
on NAMUR source recipe)
• General (enterprise wide standard, based on
S88)
• Site (specific for a geographic- or manufacturing
site, based on S88)
• Master (specific for a production cell, based
on S88)
Entire
Extended Supply Chain
POMS eSpec models and supports all internal and external
suppliers, development locations, manufacturing sites
and customers. The application is web enabled to allow
easy but secure access through an Intranet or the Internet
using the same technology. Cooperative development is
supported. Information can be exchanged with customers,
co-makers and co-developers using XML format, structured
conform established and emerging standards as SP95,
STEP, BizTalk and OAG.
